Please help!
There are so many cases we encounter everyday. Cages full of animals are passed to us for rehoming. With only 4 dedicated volunteers, we simply cannot manage everything from rescues, to fosters, rehoming, to fund raising and working with the public and gov officials… But we still do it. We all need to work a full time job and use any spare moment we have to help these poor animals.
After 4 years with absolutely no dedicated help. We finally have 3 more dedicated volunteers. Welcome Minnie, Janet and Nadine!
Volunteers are hard to come by becoz no body is paid within the team, we are 100% volunteered and all need to work.
We rely heavily on foster parents too. Most and I am happy to say, are helpful and willing to take an extra step for the animals in need. However I came across one today that was typical of being a selfish individual. There are also not so great fosters…
Today we rescued 5 dogs and 1 cat from Afcd. We had organized all fosters ahead of time and one lady agreed to take a puppy… There is a brown and black one.
At the time of collection, when she arrived at the clinic, the brown one as she requested had been accidentally taken away… Hence she refused to foster the black one an left it at the clinic.
So much that we thank anyone to Stand forward to help, as fosters, apart from basic info such as the size, gender, and requirements of the foster, the Colour of the animal Shouldn’t be a concern. To reject a puppy based on its Colour is just horrible… Selfish and rude… She left the puppy not looking at it once.
What is worse is NO ONE has offered to help this puppy, just becoz it isn’t a pure breed… We have posted online and on Facebook but absolutely no one has offered to help… Why???
If u can help foster, please contact jen@lap.org.hk
Thank u…

Kittens everywhere!
Some days we get more adopters than animals and when we get the animals the adopters disappear!
Kittens are falling from everywhere, first of all our volunteer passed us 5 kittens whom were all adopted in no time. Leaving zowie who also got snapped up…
We then had a litter of kittens but they will passed away without a reason. No one knows why but their little lives were short and sweet
Then came Leena who also passed away due to cat flu.
We then got liv and Lydia … Liv is 4 weeks old whilst Lydia is 10 weeks… Both doing great at the moment
We then found 4 kittens on Lamma and currently being bottle fed
Then another litter of 6!!! Glad to say 2 have been adopted since!
Then a Volunteer found another 6 kittens!!
Pls contact us soon if you are looking to adopt. These cuties are waiting for a home. Contact jen@lap.org.hk
Irresponsible owners
It’s so easy to take home a dog because your daughter likes it, it’s a birthday present or simply because it’s cute… I have come across many adopters and abandoners that don’t think carefully and take on an animal and very soon after abandon them again. This happens more often for dogs than cats but it happens for any animal.
A typical case would be an adopter taking in (adopting a dog) for the first time. Advise and suggestions were given as well as possible compromises that will need to be offered for the new member, everything would be “fine” and “I understand” when they are told only to be called 2 months down the line that the dog isn’t suitable…
So what trigger this blog entry… A Multibreed pup was homed 2.5 months ago. The pup was only 2 months then. A first time adopter came along and wanted to adopt the puppy. It has been explained that it’s essential that research and reading was done on how to bring up a puppy as a puppy goes through different stages whilst growing up to becoming an adult dog… “yes yes yes” and of course we also mentioned that Multibreed pups have a prime time and then it’s quite hard to how (sadly a reality)… “understand understand”
Throughout the first few weeks a lot of support was given and reminders of puppy training was offered including meeting with a trainer. Of course it was “yes yes yes” (reality is “ignore”). A Confirmation of adoption was given
After 2 months… A previous adopter calls saying her friends dog had bitten her daughter. It was puppy play… But a lot of concerned mothers involved makes it “an aggressive dog”…. The dog left my home friendly and gentle knowing not to play with human flesh…
Anyway to cut to the chase the dog is now 5 months old and the adopter decided “not cute anymore” no thanks! And the dog is therefore homeless…. Also not listening to training advises… Though a nice person I am sure, when it came to the dogs welfare everything was selfish, the dogs welfare wasn’t a consideration.
The poor dog is now homeless and possibly never going to find a home. Her prime time has now passed and her puppy days have passed… Would anyone give her a home?
She is a lovely dog. A sweet and fun girl. Now with an experienced foster Jovi will be the best companion. She is only 5 months old and a pure delight!
Akitas
We were called to take over some akita puppies of 2.5 months old. Unsure where they are from, we could only wish it was from a closing down breeders. Due to the urgency and also the age and breed of the puppy we can only guess that it was from breeders…
The collection was a Sunday (got the call on sat 7pm) and we quickly organised a van, vets and desperate plea for fosters. Thanks to many of my personal friends for opting to help me even though it was a terrible wait….
We were told 6 would arrive but only 5 came at the end… No one knows what happened to the singleton but we are in no position to ask. Most important thing is to get the pups first any questions and queries would possibly drive the abandoner away and we won’t get any. Most likely these pups would have been used for breeding, something we definitely didn’t want.
Fosters awaiting to help, volunteers willing to standby and even adopters waiting at the clinic. Finally all dogs were sent to Dr Eric’s Animal Clinic in TKO where they were checked and vaccinated.
One lucky girl for adopted on the spot by an adopter whilst two others followed me home and fosters took over the baby sitting role
Before the end of the week… All had potential adopters some even settled into their new homes. Lucky litter of pups. Life would have been so different otherwise….
afcd rescues
Another two from afcd… Friendly girls but where due to be put to sleep… The puppy is a 2 month old girl. Fun and loving whilst the other is a 2 yr old gentle gentle creature
Pls give them a loving home…
We also have bulldogs and schnauzers thrown out possibly by hobby breeders give us a call to help foster or even adopt a dog.
kittens everywhere!
We have recently got many many kittens. They are approaching 3 months now and would be great for them to find a home. They are friendly, happy and needs a home now. These two gingers are both girls. We also have 5 other kittens which can be seen on the website and faebook.
